Summary: Our argument in this series is that Christianity satisfies every human's innate longings. The internal cry of our heart, or lives, who we are or who want to be at our core. This week in our four-part series, Simply Christian, I'm tackling why we expect justice. Why do we expect justice? The Christian narrative tells the story of a good and just God who is concerned with his creation; it tells the story of God who has been working to put the world to rights, to deal with injustice and the problem of evil. (Deuteronomy 32:4, Psalms 9:16a, Psalms 11:7a, Psalms 89:14, Psalms 99:4, Psalms 103:6) |

Simply Christian (#2): The Mystery of Relationships (Don Bromley) :: July 8-9, 2006
Summary: We all ache for relationships, and yet we find relationships difficult. We're made for each other, yet making relationships work, let alone making them flourish, is remarkably difficult. The followers of Jesus are supposed to be known by their love for one another. But it's a rare thing when we find churches that go out of their way to maintain healthy relationships with other Christians in their community and with other churches, and teach their membership to maintain healthy relationships with each other. Our argument in this series is that Christianity satisfies every human’s innate longings. This week I’m tackling the thirst for spirituality. When the Bible describes an extreme longing for God and for God’s presence, the Bible uses the image of thirst As a deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God? (Psalm 42:1-2)

Creating Breathing Room for Emergent Generations (Donnell Wyche)
Summary: Churches that creatively and faithfully reveal grace will create breathing room for the disconnected to connect, for the disfavored to find favor, and for the discounted to count. When we do this we will create space for people to ask their questions, we will create space for people to discover God, we will create space for people to be transformed by Jesus, we will create space for restoration, and renewal. Fundamental question raised by Dan Brown: What is the relationship of Jesus in the New Testament Gospels to women? The New Testament Gospels have the effect of undermining, subverting, overturning, the age old problem of men dominating women. Dialogue with The Da Vinci Code: Is the New Testament Reliable?
Don Bromley Vineyard Church of Ann Arbor Sermon Series The Da Vinci Code is an opportunity to engage the popular culture in a conversation about Jesus. It also makes claims (portrayed as fact) which are contrary to Christian faith. Therefore we should enter the conversation and respond to these claims. |

What did Jesus leave behind for us to treasure and tend until his return? 1.) The God-embraced world, 2.) The Spirit, who bears hisloving presence on earth, 3.) The church, who maintains his bodily presence on earth.

Grief is a blow to the whole person, a traumatic injury.
Have mercy on me, O LORD, for I am in trouble; my eye wastes away with grief, Yes, my soul and my body! For my life is spent with grief, and my years with sighing Psalm 31: 9-10 NKJV
"Bereavement is an immensely stressful event which can take a huge toll on the body..."
